Everyone has their own idea of what a soul purpose is, and some don’t believe that soul purposes exist at all. Everyone’s beliefs are valid, but as a soul purpose tarot reader, I definitely believe that soul purposes exist.
In this post, I’ll share what I believe a soul purpose is for the purposes of helping clients discover theirs and/or guiding them on the path if they already feel called toward a particular purpose.
- A soul purpose is something that lights you up and energizes your spirit.
A soul purpose makes you happy, and you don’t feel drained when you think about it or when you do it. For me, that purpose is tarot reading. I absolutely love it, and I feel energized when I get to read tarot for myself or others.
- It’s something that you love or know deep down that you were meant to do.
Have you always known that you’re meant to be a mother? A writer? A business owner? Is there something that feels like an innate part of your body or your spirit? That’s probably a soul purpose.
- You can have more than one soul purpose – even more than one at a time.
Maybe you’re meant to be a mother AND a business owner. Yay! It’s OK to feel called toward more than one thing, and sometimes we need the other thing to balance our energy. Maybe you need a break from your business and would cherish some mommy time, or maybe you’re relieved to get a break from motherhood to work on your business. The wonderful thing about soul purposes is that they work together beautifully to harmonize your life.
- Your soul purpose can change over time and is ever evolving.
Were you really passionate about your corporate career when you started, but now you’re sick of the corporate world? Maybe you’re feeling called toward something else that you would be happy doing. That’s normal. Often, our soul purpose involves an evolutionary process. You might have needed the corporate job to learn the business skills necessary to start and run your own business. For example, I worked in the marketing world before starting my business, and I need those skills now. Your soul purpose can change, and that’s OK.
- Your soul purpose can be a hobby.
Maybe you really love doing something, but you don’t want to make a career of it. That’s OK. Follow your heart toward doing something that will make you happy whether you get paid for it or not. In fact, soul purpose careers often start out as a hobby first. I started reading tarot at age 13 (here’s how I got my first deck), but I didn’t start my tarot reading business until I was 37. Just make time to do something that you love, even a little at a time, and it may evolve from there.
- A soul purpose is something that you do for you.
I do believe that most soul purposes are for the ultimate goal of helping others, the planet, etc., but your love of doing it is what sustains you in doing that work. It fills your spiritual cup, or your happiness cup. You love doing it! Do what you love, and do it for you. Do what makes you happy, and you will probably want to do it for others, too, someday. A soul purpose is for your own spiritual happiness. It’s purpose is to light you up and bring you joy.
OK, these are six things that I believe make up a soul purpose. I hope this helps you understand what a soul purpose is so that you can open up to yours.
I’d love to hear from you. What do you think a soul purpose is? Would you add anything to this list?
