The main message this week on the path to our soul purpose comes from the King of Cups and is to master our emotions. Our King sits on a solid, stable platform in the middle of a choppy sea – completely in control of his watery emotional realm.
On our path to spiritual growth, we learn to control our emotions in the same way that we learn to control our thoughts. It helps to remember that our thoughts cause our emotions.
The 7 of Swords card asks that we come up with some new thoughts and/or ideas to help us master our emotions this week. The card is upright, so these are practical things that we can actually do in the physical world – outside of ourselves.
The Knight of Cups reversed shows that we are on an emotional mission within ourselves. We are trying to grow emotionally stronger at this time.
The King and Knight face each other head on, while the sneaky figure in the 7 of Swords looks like he’s trying to get away with something. This tells me that new ideas are great, but there are no shortcuts to emotional growth. We must do the work in order to free ourselves from emotional restraints.
Emotional mastery doesn’t come easy, but the freedom and power gained is worth the effort.
