Many people are experiencing fear around work and business right now as states order “nonessential” businesses to shut down.
Maybe you are or know a business owner who is afraid of losing their business. Maybe you are or know an employee who has been laid off or is afraid of losing a job. Livelihoods are being threatened by this virus.
Whether you’re a business owner, employee or patron, now’s the time to think about new partnerships that can help sustain these businesses and their employees.
Enough love and support from the patrons who frequented these businesses can help keep them going.
Check in with your favorite local businesses’ websites and social media pages to see if they’re providing takeout service or have started selling online. Check in on the wellbeing of your hair stylist or other business owners and freelancers who cannot provide their services remotely.
Fundraising platform GoFundMe has launched a Small Business Relief Initiative to help raise money for small businesses struggling because of the coronavirus outbreak. You can donate to the main fund to support multiple businesses, search for your local businesses to see if they have a page up, create a page for them or contact the business owner to let them know that this is an option.
Our local businesses are our community and they are part of each of us. We hope that they will still be here when the pandemic ends, and we can help make that possible.
